MESSAGE 2

In academic jargon, enclosing students in a box is the same as putting them in an open-closed society. Open because they are in a literally open environment. Closed because the way of thinking and mode of learning are limited – enclosed.

I welcome Seattle East-Asia Community College (SEACC)’s collaborative effort in this joint educational venture with the Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC). Japanese and Filipino students will exchange their cultural know-hows and differences – not as a comparison but an inclusion of inputs and artistic revelations.

Our students should be apt to the times, as what both of our institutions are. This is an outlet of putting our languages system a step put ahead. We want to be as competent as we can and we will be. With the description of our missions towards academic liberation from convention, students exchange program and cultural linkages will pave the way for us.

We will defy the challenging times of education. Anyway, it is just a jargon.
